BCCI Announces New Appointments: Manhas Elected President, Ojha Joins Selection Committee

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, September 28, 2025, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai, unveiling a host of key appointments across men’s, women’s, and junior cricket committees for the coming year.

Former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas was elected as the new BCCI president, replacing Roger Binny. Manhas, who featured in 157 First-Class, 130 List A, and 55 IPL matches between 1997-98 and 2016-17, amassed 9,714 first-class runs, including 27 centuries, alongside 4,126 runs in List A cricket. He will also serve on the Women’s Premier League (WPL) committee.

Amita Sharma appointed Women’s Selection Committee Chairperson
Former India all-rounder Amita Sharma takes over from Neetu David as chairperson of the Women’s Selection Committee. The panel also includes Shyama Dey, Jaya Sharma, and Sravanthi Naidu, with the tenure beginning after the Women’s World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.

Sharma, born September 12, 1982, represented India from 2002 to 2014 across five Tests, 116 ODIs, and 41 T20Is. She scored 926 ODI runs, including a top score of 51*, and took 87 wickets. Domestically, she played for Railways, Assam, and Delhi.

Other key appointments

Treasurer: Raghuram Bhat – Former Karnataka spinner and domestic stalwart with 374 first-class wickets, Bhat previously served as KSCA president.

Apex Council Representative: Jaydev Shah – Former Saurashtra captain and administrator, instrumental in domestic cricket governance and introducing DRS in Ranji Trophy.

WPL Chairperson: Jayesh George – Veteran Kerala Cricket Association administrator and former BCCI joint secretary, tasked with overseeing the WPL.

Men’s Selection Committee: Ajit Agarkar (Chairperson), Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra, R.P. Singh (new induction), Pragyan Ojha (new induction). Both Singh and Ojha are former Indian internationals with extensive domestic experience.

The WPL committee additionally features Mithun Manhas, Rajeev Shukla, Devajit Saikia, Prabhtej Bhatia, A. Raghuram Bhat, Madhumati Lele, Sanjay Tandon, R.I. Palani, and Arun Singh Dhumal.

The AGM also approved the audited accounts for FY 2024-25 and the annual budget for FY 2025-26, setting the stage for structured administration, improved governance, and growth across men’s, women’s, and junior cricket in India.
