The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision. While the launch is confirmed, the GCA is still working to identify the optimal window in the cricketing calendar. The number of participating teams and other crucial details are yet to be finalized.
These domestic T20 leagues have become vital scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have already proven successful in providing a platform for local talent to shine and potentially secure a spot in the Indian Premier League. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
