Rishabh Pant's Triumphant Return: LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka Hails Record-Breaking Performance After Injury Layoff

Rishabh Pant has achieved a career-best seventh position in the ICC Test rankings after his remarkable centuries in the first Test against England. He equalled Andy Flower's record as the only wicketkeepers to score two centuries in a single Test. Pant's success is inspiring, especially after his near-fatal car accident in 2022.

Rishabh Pant, the dynamic Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, has surged to a career-best seventh position in the ICC Test rankings for batters. This achievement follows his scintillating performance in the first Test against England at Leeds, where he scored two centuries.

Sanjiv Goenka praises Rishabh Pant's resilience

Pant's scores of 134 and 118 in the Leeds Test showcased his resilience and skill, even though England won the match by five wickets. He now shares the record with Zimbabwe's Andy Flower as the only wicketkeepers to score two centuries in the same Test match.

His success is especially significant considering the near-fatal car accident he suffered in December 2022. After a 15-month hiatus, Pant's return to form has been nothing short of sensational.

Sanjiv Goenka, owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), lauded Pant's performance on social media.

Rishabh Pant celebrates a century

Goenka wrote, "From battling the odds after his unfortunate accident to batting his way to 7th in the ICC Test rankings, @RishabhPant17’s comeback story is truly inspirational. By setting new records and becoming the first Indian keeper-batter to hit 800 rating points, he continues to raise the bar." He also wished Pant and #TeamIndia the best for the remainder of the series.

Pant's return to cricket also saw him secure a lucrative IPL contract worth Rs 27 crore with LSG at the auction last November.

Despite some concerns about his form after scoring 128 runs in 10 IPL innings this season, Pant quickly silenced his critics with his outstanding performance against England.
