London: Despite a valiant effort, the Indo-American duo of Yuki Bhambri and Robert Galloway were defeated in the third round of the Wimbledon men's doubles tournament. Galloway, who was already nursing a fractured finger, and Bhambri lost to the fourth-seeded Spanish-Argentinian pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in a tightly contested match that lasted two hours and 12 minutes. The final score was 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4-10).
The match saw both teams battling fiercely. Bhambri and Galloway showed resilience, fighting back from a 2-5 deficit in the deciding set. However, Granollers and Zeballos proved too strong in the match tie-break, surging to a commanding 7-0 lead.
While the Indo-American pair struggled to gain momentum in the first set, they managed to break in the sixth game of the second set, taking a 4-2 lead. However, Galloway's serve was broken in the fourth game of the third set, putting them at a disadvantage. Despite being down 2-5, Bhambri and Galloway demonstrated their fighting spirit by winning the next three games, leveling the score and reigniting their chances.
With Bhambri's exit, the Indian challenge at Wimbledon 2025 comes to an end. Bhambri will now team up with Kiwi Michael Venus. He has revealed that this partnership is a long-term plan. Bhambri and Galloway had been playing together since mid-April, participating in 10 tournaments.
