Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al Nassr until 2027, committing his future to the Saudi Arabian club. His arrival in 2023 spurred a wave of established players moving to the Saudi Pro League. Despite being the league's top scorer, Ronaldo is yet to win a title with Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo has put an end to speculation about his future by signing a two-year contract extension with Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club announced on Thursday. The deal will keep the football superstar with the team until 2027.

The 40-year-old icon reaffirmed his commitment in a video released by Al Nassr, declaring, "Al Nassr forever."

Ronaldo's arrival in 2023 initiated a wave of high-profile transfers to Saudi Arabia, with numerous established players joining the league.

Rumors about Ronaldo's future surfaced after he posted "This chapter is over" following Al Nassr's third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League, where they failed to win any silverware.

According to a source from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), "Ronaldo's presence is a key factor in developing the Saudi league in the last two years and a half. He opens the door for elite and young players to come to Saudi Arabia."

The Saudi PIF manages several Pro League clubs, including Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ahli.

The extension news follows Brazilian star Neymar's departure from Al Hilal in January. Neymar played only seven matches during his 18-month stint, earning a reported $104 million annually.

Despite leading the league with 25 goals, Ronaldo has yet to win any Saudi or continental titles with Al Nassr. The team was recently eliminated in the Asian Champions League semi-finals.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had previously hinted at the possibility of ending his career with Al Nassr.

Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in European talent, starting with Ronaldo's transfer in late 2022, transforming its football landscape. The country is also set to host the 2034 World Cup.

Saudi football fans have enjoyed watching renowned players such as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who collectively hold six Ballons d'Or, in regular league matches.

Some observers have compared the Saudi Pro League to the Chinese Super League, which previously attracted players with lucrative salaries before encountering financial challenges.

The Saudi Pro League's development aligns with the country's broader objectives of becoming a major tourism and business hub before global oil demand declines.

Ronaldo initially joined Al Nassr two years ago in a deal reportedly worth $250 million, representing a significant shift in his career towards Saudi Arabian football.
