NEW DELHI: India's Under-19 cricket team launched their five-match Youth ODI series against England with a commanding six-wicket victory at Hove. The chase of 175 was completed in a mere 24 overs, fueled by a sensational debut performance from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Suryavanshi, already known for becoming the youngest centurion in men's T20s during this year's IPL while playing for Rajasthan Royals, ignited the County Ground with a blistering 19-ball 48. His innings included a staggering five sixes and three fours. This explosive display paved the way for India's dominant performance and immediately placed him in the spotlight on his debut in English conditions.

The young batsman forged a rapid 71-run partnership in just 7.3 overs with captain Ayush Mhatre. Following his electrifying cameo, Suryavanshi shared a photo with the team’s sports massage therapist, Mangesh Gaikwad, on social media, accompanied by the uplifting song "Aashayein" from the Bollywood movie Iqbal, showcasing his Bollywood-inspired celebration.

Despite a brief stumble after Suryavanshi's dismissal, wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu steered the chase with an unbeaten 45. He ensured India comfortably crossed the finish line with a remarkable 26 overs remaining.

Earlier in the day, England elected to bat but were bowled out for 174 in 42.2 overs. Debutant Isaac Mohammed provided a quickfire 42 off 28 balls, hitting four sixes and three fours. Rocky Flintoff contributed a resilient 56 as well. However, consistent wickets hampered England's progress, with limited support for the aforementioned pair.

India’s spin duo, Mohamed Enaan and Kanishk Chouhan, proved instrumental, claiming five wickets combined and stifling England's scoring rate throughout the middle overs. Their efforts were complemented by sharp fielding, including a run-out and several well-taken catches.

This dominant victory follows India's overwhelming 231-run win against a Young Lions Invitational XI in Loughborough earlier in the week, further highlighting their impressive form on this tour.
